Thats the 1st time I have heard google mention a) that they have problems in doing something (keeping feeds fresh) and b) mentioning a financial cost of something.
Don't worry, if no-one else does it in the week or two after they release the code, I'll see what I can do to make something to pull in feeds, as long as they allow those features through an API into the main site.
